Let's fight hunger together!
The Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank (IFCB) serves an average of 400 families each week and would not be able to do so without the dedicated team of volunteers who come in each week to make it happen.
IFCB offers evening grocery hours every Monday night and needs 2-3 volunteers to help manage grocery carts, greet clients, guide customer traffic flow and help families load groceries into their vehicles. Since this is a client facing role, we need volunteers who are friendly, outgoing and comfortable in crowds.
A significant portion of this shift is spent outdoors and tasks are fairly phyiscal. Please plan to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Water bottles, coffee and tea will be provided to help stay hydrated. Please plan to bring rain gear on rainy days.
What Should I Know if I'm Volunteering at IFCB for the First Time?
Q: Where is the food bank located?
A: The Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank (IFCB) is located at 179 1st Ave., SE in Historic Downtown Issaquah. (1st Ave. runs behind the Front Street Market shopping complex and is a one-way street.)
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: IFCB is a "jeans and a t-shirt" kind of place. Please plan to wear comfortable closed toe shoes and casual clothing that you can move in.
Q: Where should I park?
A: Free public parking is available in the lot directly across the street from the food bank, near the community center and on the other side of the green space dividing the two lots. Free street parking is also available alongside the building.
Q: Should I bring anything?
A. Please plan to bring your own rain gear and dress for the weather. Otherwise the only other things to bring are an open mind, kind heart and a desire to help.
