Director's Note: Washington Ready

By Cori Walters, Executive Director

Summer 2021

Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank is definitely ready for COVID-19 and Delta variant restrictions to lift! But then again, who isn't?

We are in 100% support of Washington State and Governor Inslee's Washington Ready, Safe Start plan. Since the start of the pandemic, we have followed state guidelines, CDC recommendations, and are continually observing how other nations, communities, and food banks have been riding the pandemic wave. This has played a huge role in keeping Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank staff, volunteers, and clients safe.

As we move forward, we will continue to follow guidelines, trust our instincts, and do everything we can to ensure the safety of everyone who interacts with our organization. We serve a very vulnerable population and not all of our volunteers and clients are able or wanting to get vaccinated. Ultimately, it's our job to serve anyone who needs food. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, we will continue to err on the side of caution by mandating the wearing of masks in our building, gloves for staff and volunteers, encouraging handwashing and sanitizing as you enter and leave the building, and limiting the number of people in each room. Thank you to everyone for your understanding and compassion throughout this process.

We want to serve and support our community while avoiding becoming a location that spreads this disease. We urge you all to take precautions and know that the precautions you take are protecting our most vulnerable citizens.

Thank you for keeping the safety of our community top of mind!
